Getting 'Sirius' about Rallying

Cochrane Rally Cold Snap 2007

horse_large1.gifGroup 2 entries reigned at the 2007 Cochrane Rally of the Ranchlands! The roads were icy and raceday weather was freezing, but overall it was a fun and sucessful event. I think every competitor should brave the cold at a control at least once to gain a real appreciation for rally volunteers. The condtions changed dramatically from the recce on saturday to the race day on sunday, which has been known to happen at this event. Driving the stages in the rex on saturday was a blast; the roads were muddy and both greasy and grippy at once. The curvy uphills and downhills and a few sneaky bridges were the stage hilights; the Rocky mountain views were fantastic. The unreliability of the transcanada near Golden BC made getting to and from the rally a frustrating challenge, but during the detour we got to see more great roads less traveled.
