Oregon Trail Rally 2007
Sirius Team members Gord and Jennifer traveled to Oregon this weekend as Rocket Rally Sevice Crew. The spectating on Friday evening was fantastic; a good view of some tarmac turns and of the final dirt stage, where some of the cars were lost and driving in circles. Many of the people I met while spectating at the track had never checked out a rally before. By Saturday afternoon we were out with a crash and a brake failure. This was only my third trip to America, but there have been some interesting changes since rally became an object of commercial appeal. America seems to have a different idea of what rallying is actually about, changing event location and format to suit PR needs. It wasn’t much of a story for RA this weekend though, with the big US name out on the first stage, and an Australian taking the win.
Congratulations to the Western Canadian teams!
